The night of First ARY Film Awards was a milestone achieved for the revival of our film industry, but besides all its heroics, the event’s stage turned out to be a battle field for the ‘War of Words’ between our two top heroes Shaan and Ali Zafar.
The face-off started with the comments of Shaan, who termed that Pakistani artists who work in bollywood, are ‘cheap sell-outs’ and accused them of using the Bollywood as a shortcut stairway to success.
Then it came Ali Zafar’s turn, who won ‘International Icon of the Year Award’ in the show, and he took on against Shaan’s comments while having a few words on stage.
Ali Zafar, irked by Shaan’s criticism, stated that it is shameful to call artists as cheap sell-outs who have worked in bollywood, because many renowned artists like Bade Ghulam Ali, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Mohsin Khan, Zeba Bakhtiar, Salma Agha, Shafqat Amanat Ali and Atif Aslam have made their mark via their work in India.
Many celebrities were of a viewpoint that Shaan has presented a wrong definition of patriotism and if someone has not followed the same path that the actor has walked on, then he doesn’t deserve to be such critical of him.
According to the Pakistani viewers response over this on social media, majority of public thinks that Shaan is wrong in his this kind of approach about patriotism and they think that art cannot be restricted to the geographical boundaries.
