Karan Johar to play villain opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet
The Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6 judge is gearing up to show off his acting prowess in Anurag Kashyap and Vinil Mathew’s upcoming projects
Karan Johar will be seen showing his jalwa on celluloid in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet and Vinil Mathew’s Hasee Toh Phasee. KJo, who did a tiny cameo in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, has done a number of guest appearances in films like Fashion, Luck By Chance and Home Delivery. But looks like teeny-weeny roles are not KJo’s thing anymore. What’s interesting is that he will be stepping into the shoes of a sophisticated Parsi industrialist called Khambata in Kashyap’s venture and the director thinks Mr Johar will suit the character to a tee.
Along with showing off his suave side, Johar will also display some intense grey shades which totally makes us look forward to his role. In Bollywood lingo, he will be playing a villain opposite good guy Ranbir Kapoor. The film is based on real incidents that took place in Mumbai between the 1950s and 1970s and how the transformation made the city a popular metropolis. The film will also star Anushka Sharma.
Meanwhile, Karan will also be doing a small role in Hasee Toh Phasee which is a joint production between Karan and Anurag again. Looks like KJo and Kashyap have found a cool friend in each other. They bonded at the Cannes film festival, Karrru gave Kashyap style tips for the red carpet soiree and Kashyap raved about Johar’s short story in Bombay Talkies – must say the two are hitting it off pretty well. Now we hope KJo is able to do justice to his super interesting characters without making a boo boo, what say readers!
