Well it has been seen that Bollywood nowadays are inspired by Hollywood and there may be few changes in the script but the main plot is somewhat the same.
The recently released Ki and Ka can be associated with the comedy Hollywood movie, The Intern.
The movie kicks off in a very normal manner but the fireworks are ready when you realize that Ka who is Arjun does not want to be a traditional husband or father. Ka wants to be a man who stays home and does all the house work. When Ki(Kareena) is proposed by Ka things get interesting as they decide to get married.
All Ka’s parents are not happy with what he is doing and that is why his father asks him to visit a doctor and check if he is a man but after marriage things seem to be going all good. The wife role played by Ka and the husband role by Ki.
With the passage of time we see that Ka is able to win the hearts of many and catches limelight. He is able to establish himself strongly in a society which is quite different. Nevertheless, it is excellent and if we talk about Kareena’s acting then it is superb.
A few scenes seem to be quite boring due to the fact that there is lack of originality. But still it is a movie worth watching due to the fact that it shows there are no issues in husbands doing what wives always do.
Plus, Arjun and Kareena give off precious little steam, despite all the canoodling on display. That takes some off the edge of the couple. Or is all that sibling-like matter-of-factness a thing these days? And then there is the incessant chatter about men and women, and this is what ‘they’ do, and this is what ‘they’ must not do. All too message-y.
Good to see the premise– send a woman out, keep a man in, and reverse gender expectations- on screen: it just needed to have been sharper and deeper.
