Samina Peerzada: I Adore Kapil Sharma Of Comedy Nights With Kapil

Samina Peerzada known for her various movies, television and theatrical outings, has won many Indian hearts with Zindagi Gulzar Hai. The actress talks about the stronghold of women in Pakistani showbiz, her fascination for Indian soaps and more.

We’ve been watching a lot of Indian shows like Balika Vadhu, Uttaran, Comedy Nights With Kapil. The most amazing thing about Indian shows is the scale on which a soap is made. There is this sheen of larger than life portrayals that make Indian soaps so different from our shows. Pakistani shows are more to do with drama and are realistic. Now that Pakistani shows like Noorpur Ki Rani are reaching out to Indian audiences, it’s a matter of celebration for us.

I adore Kapil Sharma and Comedy Nights with Kapil is my favourite show. I relate to Kapil a lot as a stand up comedian because I see a reflection of a lot of Lahore stand up comedians in his acts.

Pakistani entertainment industry is a powerhouse of strong women. I’m a feminist and made some very tough decisions in my life. I started very young with Bazzar-E-Husn, which was my debut film and got a national award for it. When I did television I realized the meatier roles in TV lie in character roles, so I consciously opted for them.
