Why Mahira Khan was the ‘FIRST CHOICE’ with Shah Rukh Khan

Why Mahira Khan was the ‘FIRST CHOICE’ with Shah Rukh Khan

Mahira Khan, the stunning and most loved Pakistani actress who also starred in Shoaib Akhtar’s hit fim Bol has been signed to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees.

The director of the movie Raees Rahul Dholakia says that casting Mahira opposite Sharukh has nothing to do with her popularity in India for her Pakistani serial Humsafar on Zindagi channel.

“Mahira’s popularity is beyond question. But that is only an added bonus. We signed her because the film is set in a Muslim ghetto of Gujarat and character needs to possess a certain look.”

It was the films requirement, Raees is set in the 1980s. Dholakia wanted an actress who would look convincing as Muslim girl in Gujarat in the 1980s. There for the usual Bollywood actresses, from Deepika and Katrina to Priyanka and Anushka were quickly rejected.

We wanted to cast a fresh muslim face opposite Sharukh and luckily Mahira said yes! the director added.

Apparently, Mahira said no to a few Bollywood offers in the past.

Mahira already had a screen test with Shahrukh Khan and the looks-test featuring Mahira with Shah Rukh has proven the pair to be refreshing and real.

When asked a question regarding Mahira’s visa for India, Rahul anticipates no visa problems for the Pakistani beauty.

“There are no problems with American actors coming here. Why should there be a problem with a neighbouring country? Having said that, let me add that her presence is the producers’ issue. My job is to shoot the film.”

It would be quite exciting to see Mahira Khan romancing Sharukh Khan. What do you think guyz?
