Pakistan vs West Indies 2nd ODI Live – 2013

West Indies take on Pakistan in the second of five ODIs at Providence in Guyana on Tuesday. Pakistan lead the series 1-0 on the back of a fine Shahid Afridi performance with both, the bat and the ball. First Afridi rescued his side from a precarious position with the bat before scything through the side with a record-breaking seven-wicket haul. The West Indies can’t afford to go 2-0 down this early in this series and need to snap a three game losing streak to do so. The West Indies need their big man Chris Gayle to contribute, he hasn’t had a great time in International cricket and certainly needs to prove that he isn’t just a domestic player. After a stellar comeback Shahid Afridi will be hungry for more with both the bat and ball and the West Indies will have to watch out.
After Shahid Afridi’s splendid comeback to International cricket many Pakistan fans would be thinking what could of happened in England for the Champions Trophy had he been selected in the squad. That is the past now but Sri Lanka look a much better team with him in it. He has always been a solid performer with the ball for Pakistan but it is his batting that can prove to be inconsistent but if he can find some form Pakistan are going to win this series. The top order misfired against the West Indies in the 1st ODI but should hold their spot after they won the match thanks to the contribution from Shahid Afridi.
It is all so often that the West Indies struggle with their batting and you would think with Chris Gayle in their it would be hard to go bad. The thing is that Gayle has struggled in International cricket over the past few years and is finding the big contribution with the bat hard to come by. With the West Indies batting being very poor at the moment he needs to show them all how to do it and hope they follow his lead. Things are not so bright in the Caribbean camp with the batsman under severe pressure after their poor form continues. All the bowlers should be safe but the batsmen would count themselves very lucky as they have only one replacement in Devon Smith.
