West Indies v Pakistan 2nd T20 Live Match – 28th July 2013
The West Indies need to win in the 2nd T20 to avoid a tour whitewash after also losing the ODI series to Pakistan earlier in the month. The 1st T20 was a very tight encounter with the game coming down to the last ball where Zulfiqar Bulbar hit a six to win it for Pakistan. Kieron Pollard looked very good at the crease and will hope his top order can stay in for a bit longer to relieve the pressure so he can finish the innings off. Mohammad Hafeez did his job with the ball in the first innings but will expect more from his batting after a poor tour of the Caribbean.
Kieron Pollard found himself at the crease earlier than expected in the 1st T20 coming in at the 6th over with the Windies down 4 wickets for only 42 runs. Those who watched the IPL know that Pollard also has a controlled side and can work the singles which is what he did until the last few overs where he took off. For Pollard to be more effective than what he was Chris Gayle needs to score some runs as he is in shocking form.
Mohammad Hafeez has been very successful with the ball in Twenty20 cricket and that was on show in the 1st T20 where he took the wickets of Charles and Gayle in their first few overs which had a great influence on restricting the West Indies to a modest total. Hafeez needs to do more with the bat as he is going through a dry stage with scoring runs with only 1 half century from his last 10 innings. The second T20I is today itself, same time as of 1st T20.
