Pakistan vs West Indies 3rd ODI Live – 2013

West Indies play Pakistan in the third ODI of their five-match series at Gros Islet on Friday. It’s all to play for in the series when the two teams meet again for the third game after both West Indies and Pakistan won a game apiece. It started with the awesome Shahid Afridi triggering one of the best bowling displays in the first ODI after he had flattened the West Indian bowling with his bat in the first game. His half-century and seven-wickets were enough to win Pakistan the game and quite easily at that.
He did well with the ball in the second game too, ending with figures of 2/29 but that did not prevent West Indies from reaching a total of 232 in their 50 overs. On a very slow and sluggish track, it was all they needed and in Sunil Narine they had a bowler who could exploit the conditions well – he grabbed a four-wicket haul to bowl West Indies to a series-levelling win. It also halted a three-match losing streak for the West Indies.
Pakistan have had four different batsmen who have scored a 50 each – captain Misbah-ul-Haq, Afridi, Umar Akmal and Nasir Jamshed. On the other hand, Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez and Asad Shafiq haven’t got going with the bat and will hope for some more runs here. West Indies showed the art of building an innings in the second ODI. They did lose the woefully out of form Chris Gayle early in the essay but then there were 31, 54, 21, 10, 43 and 30 from their next six batsmen – a show of how much they had improved from the first game where they just fell away.
It will be interesting to see how the Pakistani bowlers react to this new, cautious approach that West Indies took through most part of the innings before teeing off towards the end.
